چکیده

The IEEE Standard 1057 provides algorithms for fitting the parameters of a sine wave to noisy discrete time observations. The fit is obtained as an approximate minimizer of the sum of squared errors, i.e. the difference between observations and model output. The performance of the algorithm in x4.1.3.3 of the standard is compared both with the Cramér-Rao bound (CRB) on accuracy, and with the performance of a non-linear least squares approach. The algorithm of IEEE-STD-1057 provides accurate estimates in most practical applications for Gaussian and quantization noise. In the Gaussian scenario it provides estimates with performance close to the CRB. In severe conditions with noisy data covering only a fraction of a period, however, it has inferior performance compared with a one-dimensional search of a concentrated cost function.

A Fast Sine-Wave Fit Algorithm

Abstract: In testing digital waveform recorders, an important part is to fit a sinusoidal model to recorded data, and calculate the parameters that result in the best fit. Methods are already standardized; however, they demand high computational power. In this article a new, quick and accurate sinefitting algorithm will be shown based on Levenberg-Marquardt (LM) method. The constraints of conve...

IEEE Standard 1057, Crame´r-Rao bound and the parsimony principle

This paper deals with some fundamental properties of the sine-wave fit algorithm included in IEEE Standards 1057 and 1241. Asymptotic Cramér-Rao bounds for threeand four model parameters are derived under the Gaussian assumption. Further, the sine-wave fitting properties of the algorithm are analyzed by the parsimony principle. A decision criterion whether to use the threeor four parameter mode...

Errors Due to Harmonic Distortion and Noise

t AbstractLeast-squares' sine-fit algorithms are used extensively in signal-processing applications. The parameter estimates produced by such algorithms are subject to both random and systematic errors when the record of input samples consists of a fundamental sine wave corrupted by harmonic distortion or noise. The errors occur because, in general, such sine-fits will incorporate a portion of ...

Thermoelastic Vibration of Temperature-Dependent Nanobeams Due to Rectified Sine Wave Heating—A State Space Approach

In this study, the second type of Green and Naghdi's thermoelasticity theory is applied to present the vibration of a nanobeam subjected to rectified sine wave heating based upon the nonlocal thermoelasticity theory. Both Young's modulus and thermal conductivity are considered to be linear functions of the temperature. The Laplace transform domain is adopted to solve the governing partial diffe...
